Following an Open Public Tender held by PPC, MAS was awarded the upgrading of the governing system of the 4 hydro turbines of the hydroelectric plant of Kremasta, the largest hydroelectric plant of the country with an output of 400MW. The governing systems of the turbines, installed in the late 60’s were not operating to the satisfaction of PPC who wanted a faster and more accurate response. MAS connected the actuator of the existing governing system to a Woodward Atlas II electronic last generation governor to all turbines, and installed an HMI system in order to control the operation. By doing so the response of the governing system of all turbines was drastically improved, while the old, mechanical governing system remained in position as a redundant possibility.
